ISV – Incredible Student Volunteers!
Everyone at DEPDC/GMS would like to extend a warm thank you to the ladies and gentlemen of International Student Volunteers (ISV) who worked diligently in December and January tiling and painting the Half Day School (HDS) classrooms here at the centre. ISV did an impeccable job tiling the floors, painting the rooms, and adding their special touch with the English alphabet and colourful artwork.
The ISV team who visited for two weeks in January did a remarkable job in the first grade classroom. It is a big hit among both staff and students! The A-B-Cs that encircle the base of the room each have a corresponding piece of artwork so it is both informative and fun! The students at DEPDC/GMS love the room and there are even arguments over who gets to use it! Big thanks to Helen, Emma, Melanie, Tamika, Hayley, Jana, Erica, Amylee, Nhu, Shauna, Mikaela, Alex, and the uncompromising coordinator extraordinaire, Tai!
We would also like to extend a big thank you to the ISV group who visited in December. They tiled the second and third grade classrooms, touched up the second grade classroom, and painted the third grade classroom with multicoloured pictures of seahorses, dolphins, jellyfishes and more. The classrooms are colourful and fun – a great place both for learning and teaching! Big thanks to Mark, Eliza, Courtnee, Asher, Arnna, Jess, Penny, Sarah, Tim, Shan, Stella, Caroline, Kathryn and again, the incredible coordinator, Tai!
Thanks to visiting ISV groups over the last three years, all of the Half Day School classrooms at the center are now tiled and repainted, lending a fresh, fun learning environment for the children, staff and volunteers! DEPDC/GMS cannot thank you enough, ISV, for your time, dedication and creativity! We all greatly enjoyed your visits. The kids miss you and send their hellos!
